For White Cross Ring, innovation isn’t a question of if, but how. That mindset has driven the company since its beginnings in the 1960s – a fearless determination to solve problems, push boundaries, and deliver exactly what customers need. Managing Director Tom Horner sums it up best: “In the mid-90s, one of our shopfloor operators turned an old GEKA punch machine into a flange puncher!”

That inventive spirit started in Guiseley, Leeds, when founders Brian Vierod and Brian Woods, frustrated by supply issues, began producing their own rings and flanges. Realising other fabricators faced the same challenges, they established White Cross Ring to supply high-quality rings and flanges across the industry. As demand grew, so did their capabilities – adding welding, drilling, and punching to provide a complete in-house service.

Today, based in Bradford, White Cross Ring offers customers an end-to-end fabrication solution that includes cutting, welding, tube and section bending, and precision drilling. Their modern CNC machinery, including fully automated BLM tube benders, enables highly accurate, tight-radius bends across a range of materials – from stainless steel and aluminium to copper and duplex. Their work spans everything from public transport and furniture components to handrails, barriers, and even medical scanners.

Over time, the company has developed niche expertise in spiral handrails and complex section bending, becoming specialists in creating bespoke, curved structures in various metals. Their skilled team also fabricates everything from furniture and stainless steel vessels to protective frames and custom barriers – all made to measure.

White Cross’ openness to challenge has led to some remarkable projects, from the restoration of York Minster’s Rose Window to building stage equipment for Rammstein’s 2019 world tour. They’ve even created a “ball of death” for stunt motorcyclists and fairground ride tracks that filled their entire workshop.

While tradition remains at its core, White Cross Ring continues to invest in the future. Recent purchases, including the CNC-capable Roundo 62 S and BLM E Turn 52, have enhanced precision and efficiency, while new AMOB and Roundo machines are on order.
