White Cross Ring Ltd has put its fabrication expertise to the test by designing and manufacturing a unique set of trophies for the 2026 Sheet Metal Industries Golf Challenge.
Working alongside Sheet Metal Industries and Yorgrip Ltd, our team set out to create trophies that were more than just prizes. Each piece was designed to showcase the practical sheet metal fabrication and engineering capabilities we use every day.
The overall winners’ trophy combines rolled angle flanges with holes – a core part of White Cross Ring’s specialist work – with aluminium walkway material supplied by Yorgrip. Bent tubes manufactured on our BLM Elect tube-bending machine complete the striking sculptural design.
Even the traditional wooden spoon received the White Cross Ring treatment. A coiled section of tube forms the shaft of the spoon, adding a touch of humour while demonstrating the creativity and precision involved in our fabrication processes.
The trophies were designed by the White Cross Ring team, with fabrication carried out by our apprentice welder, Grace Williams. This provided an excellent opportunity to showcase both established engineering skills and the talent of the next generation.

“The trophies have been an engineering challenge in themselves. Trying to create something that represents both White Cross Ring and Yorgrip has been difficult at times, but I’ve really enjoyed seeing the designs develop.”
The finished trophies demonstrate what can be achieved when engineering expertise, creativity and collaboration come together – and we’re looking forward to seeing them presented at this year’s Golf Challenge.
